Red-hot High School Musical 2 star Ashley Tisdale, 22, has recently signed with MGM studios to star in a straight-to-DVD movie, Picture This. MGM has also committed to a new DVD installment of Legally Blonde, and Tisdale is being considered to replace Reese Witherspoon as everyone's favorite blond genius Elle Woods.

Jason Weiss, VP of MGM’s DVD division announced:

"Ashley is clearly a huge talent and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with her on this movie. She has built an incredible following and has become an icon for today’s teen audience."

In Picture This, the Tis plays Mandy, a high school student invited to a party by the most popular boy. The problem is that she’s grounded and will have to find a way around her punishment in order to attend. Fellow Disney actor Robbie Arnell plays that boy, Drew Patterson. Ashley's has become an international teen idol, was named one of People magazine’s Hottest Stars Under 25 and released a hit album, Headstrong.

Following in the high-kicking footsteps of her "High School Musical" co-star Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale has signed on to headline her very own feature film "Picture This". Tisdale broke the news of her upcoming performance as an unpopular girl along with a promise: The character will be a long way from the snobby Sharpay.
"I'm doing a movie in August called 'Picture This,' " the bubbly Disney star revealed.

"I love the character because it's so different than any of the other characters I've played so far," Tisdale enthused. "[My character] works at Petco and she's not popular. She's kind of like the girl next door. She doesn't really know how to put herself together."

"I'm probably going to change [my hair], maybe go brunette," she said excitedly. "I always like playing different characters, and changing your whole look too. That way, you don't always look the same in each movie."
